DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a Lifeguard Training Coordinator to train candidates within Sea Rescue stations as Lifeguards and Class 4 Coxswains.

The successful candidate must be able to lead by example with a very high safety and skill level in both inshore rescue vessels and swimming ability as well as good presentation and people skills.

The job will include designing and presenting Lifeguard / Jet Ski / ATV courses to NSRI crew, as well as supervising and mentoring training officers, training assistants and training administrators in support of the vision, mission and strategy of the institute.

This is a full time, Cape Town based position, where working hours are not structured on a typical Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm cycle.

This position calls for a lot of flexibility with most of the training being scheduled on weekends and after hours.

The job will involve extensive travelling to stations nationwide to evaluate, assess and mentor volunteers.

REQUIREMENTS:
Matric:
Driver’s License
A solid training and development background in the NSRI and Lifeguarding is required and the ideal candidate will have an outcomes based education mindset.
The post is suited to a strong leader, who is humble and diligent.
Discipline, strong administrative and communication skills are a must.
Character traits should include enthusiasm, integrity, patience, self-control, loyalty, confidentiality and a positive outlook on life.
A training and development qualification is a must, preferably with a Sea Rescue background (Coxswain Certificate).

EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate should have at least five years’ experience in a training role, as well as two years supervisory experience.
This position will report to the Drowning Prevention Manager.
