The ILS Sport Commission is seeking nominations from suitable people for the key positions of Chief Referee and Deputy Chief Referee for the Lifesaving World Championships in Riccione, Italy 2020 which will take place from September 18th to 5th October 2020.
LWC 2020 will be held at Riccione on the Adriatic coast of the country. All Pool events will be held at the Stadio del Nuoto Riccione, Via Monte Rossa, Riccione Centre and all Ocean and Beach events will be held just to the south of the centre of Riccione.
Appointments will be made by the ILS Sport Commission by mid-August 2019. All applicants will be advised by end of August 2019, whether they have been successful or not.
Those appointed as Chief Referee will be required to work with the ILS Sport Commission:
1. to appoint the main group of Technical Officials for their specific Championship
2. to contribute to the design of their specific detailed Championship Programme
3. to be present at all briefings required for their specific Championship
All briefings are usually scheduled the day before the championships, and all will take place at the Stadio del Nuoto, Riccione. The Chief Referees briefing for the Masters, National Teams and Surfboats with the ILS Sport Commission is set for 10:00 on Thursday 17th September 2020, with a further Chief Referees Briefing for Interclub Teams and IRB events set for 16:00 on Sunday 27th September 2020.
Applicants for the position of Chief Referee and Deputy Chief Referee must have strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal people skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple priorities at a National and/or an International level of Lifesaving Competition coupled with extensive relevant Refereeing experience of not less than 5 years.
This experience should show a successful track record of exposure to senior roles at a National and/or International Lifesaving Competition. As a minimum the applicant must have served as the Chief Referee or Deputy Chief Referee at a National Lifesaving Championships within their own federation on a regular basis. If this criterion is not met, the application will not be considered.
The minimum requirement in terms of qualification is that the candidate must have at least a qualification of Chief Referee or equivalent (e.g. Level 3) and have been qualified with such qualification for at least 5 years.
If you satisfy the criteria for Experience and Qualifications given above, and are available to attend the LWC 2020 events, you may apply for a position as Chief Referee and/or Deputy Chief Referee.
