Lifesaving South Africa is aware of the growing number of Covid-19 cases reported in South Africa, we are continuously monitoring the situation, and in contact with our Medical Advisors, the city and SA Sport and Recreation.
At this time there is a limited risk within South Africa and provided normal healthy lifestyles are maintained this will remain so for the full duration of the 2020 Wimpy SA National Lifesaving Championships in Port Elizabeth from the 19th – 25th March 2020.
We advise the following actions:
- avoid contact with any obviously ill people
- seek medical care early should you develop any symptoms
- Self-isolate should you develop any symptoms
- don’t share eating utensils
- exercise the correct cough/sneeze etiquette
- exercise rigorous and regular hand hygiene
We are not cancelling or postponing the event at this time and will advise on any arising decisions should it be needed.
