Subject:           Closure of the Voluntary Duty Season

Lifesaving South Africa is closing the duty season for all voluntary lifeguards as from Midnight 26th March 2020 as per the Nationwide Shut Down as announced by the State President on Monday, 23rd March 2020.  The duty season for the Western Cape and Eastern Cape was to end after the Easter weekend ending the 13th April 2020.

Beach Lifeguards are an essential service and will be deployed at the discretion of their employers and municipalities during this shut down period. Club Captains and Chairmen are encouraged to remain in contact with their relevant Municipal Beach Managers for council updates and notifications.

This is an unprecedented and temporary measure to ensure that the health and safety of our nation continues to be of paramount importance.

We wish all those essential services working through this period health and safety and thank them for their service to our country at this time.

Yours faithfully,

(No signature – electronic document)

Dhaya Sewduth

President
