Subject: Extention of the Validity of the Lifeguard Certificate
Dear members,
With reference to circular 65/20 and 105/20 – Lifeguard Retest.
The Director of Lifesaving and Lifesaving Advisory Board has acknowledged that the COVID-19 Pandemic has created uncertainty with regards to the validity period of the Lifeguard and Junior Lifeguard Certificates and Retests.
Due to the extension of the National Lockdown and Risk Mitigation Levels as well as the designating of Municipal Areas as COVID Hot Spots the opening and availability of suitable venues to be retested may be delayed across the country and may be opened at differing times. Where no suitable venues are available for retests to take place, the club or affiliated entity may apply to Lifesaving SA for the extension of the validity of the Lifeguard’s certificates to a period not exceeding 6 weeks following the re-opening of the local venues. Please note no applications for extension will be accepted from Individuals.
Please note that all certificates remain valid subject to an annual retest. We encourage all lifeguards to be retested at the earliest opportunity once venues are re-opened.
We encourage all to continue to comply with the National regulations, wear mask and wash their hands.
Yours in Lifesaving
