The week 30th May to 6th June is designated as the Child Protection Week.
Lifesaving South Africa will be highlighting some important items during this week especially around the protection of children around water.
One of the Child Protection actions undertaken by LSA over the past few years has been the Safeguarding Clearances that have been required for those working with minors. In 2020 we brought The Guardian onboard and to date over 260 of our members have received their Safeguarding Clearances and 28 of our clubs have Designated Safeguarding Officers, 2 of which are in our National Team Management.
Lifesaving South Africa and The Guardian will be hosting information sessions for all Districts next week. These sessions will be about 30 to 45 minutes long and will be an opportunity for all clubs to raise their questions around Child Protection and the Safeguarding Process. Sessions will be hosted sequentially and may take place on the same evening.
Please can we request Districts to select an evening which suits, being either Tuesday 1st June or Wed 2nd June to attend the discussion sessions. The sessions will run from 18h00 to 18h45; 18h45 to 19h30 and if needed 19h30 to 20h15.
All clubs in the districts are requested to be represented by at least one person and no more than three persons.
Please advise email@example.com by Monday 31st May of your preferred day.
