Clifton Surf Lifesaving Club Launches 2025–2026 Impact, Patrol & Education Report
For the first time in the Club’s history, this report formally measures the social and economic value generated through Clifton’s volunteer lifesaving operations, using the PKF Octagon Lifesaving South Africa methodology. It captures the measurable impact behind every patrol hour, preventative intervention, rescue and medical response delivered by our volunteer lifeguards throughout the season.
The Club extends its sincere appreciation to President Winston Meyer for his contribution to the foreword. His support provides meaningful context to the broader national importance of volunteer lifesaving and the critical role it plays in ensuring public safety along South Africa’s coastline.
Beyond rescue statistics, the report highlights the wider ecosystem of prevention, education, and leadership development that defines the Club’s work — including the launch of the BeachSafe Tracker, a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to measure preventative public safety efforts beyond traditional rescue metrics.
They also share a breakdown of their economic impact findings, which applies the PKF Octagon methodology to quantify the operational and social value of volunteer lifesaving in detail. This article sets out the full methodology and analysis behind the results shared in the report. You can read it here: [View Article]
